Bringing life to Architectural Drawings with ArielVision for SketchUp

For this case study we had a quick chat with Paul Grubb of Paul David Cabinetry and Components LLC. The company was founded in 1991 and has been family owned and operated for over 20 years. They’re based in Matthews, North Carolina, a suburb of Charlotte.

Hello Paul! Tell us a little about your business.
We are a commercial casework company that specializes in high pressure laminates. We design and build reception desks, bank teller lines, hospital cabinetry, restaurants, store displays and pretty much anything you dream up.

What sets your business apart from others in your niche?
We set ourselves apart through our focus on customer service. I make sure I am available anytime someone calls. A high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.

When did you start using SketchUp and ArielVision?  Why did you choose ArielVision?
We started using SketchUp in 2012 and ArielVision in 2016. ArielVision was a great value and it worked seamlessly with SketchUp and Mozaik.

What elements do you pay most attention to when rendering?
I would say lighting and shadows. That really makes a huge difference in the rendering.

Please show us some of the renderings you’ve produced using ArielVision.
We really don’t spend much time on our renderings. I typically don’t import actual texture and colors because we are basically just submitting drawings for approval. Here’s a taster of the types of renderings I generate.

Do you receive any feedback on the renderings? 
Architects and owners really seem to enjoy the renderings. It really brings life to the architectural drawings.
