Home Rendering, New York by Richard Russ

Richard was kind enough to share some of his thoughts with us:

This image is actually a model I created for a home builder here in NY. This is one of 8 homes I rendered for them over the last 12 months.

Model was created in Sketchup and rendered with your Render Plus software. This particular model needed to show the proposed sloped site and lower entry garage.

The sandbox and drape tools in SU played an important part of the models success. Using the HDRI background and IRender nXt ready shrubs and trees helped to bring the model to life.

I always find setting the correct sun angle, intensity and time of day to be the key to a believable model. The needs to be a difference between shade and shadow to look natural.

Casting shadows on the foreground give the model depth as well as the proper layering of elements in the render. Slight adjustments to the brightness and color saturation are done right in the NXT render tools.

I particularly like that the rendering properties of each surface / element can be set while working in the SU model making moving between the model and the render seamless.

No other post-processing was used.

This and other rendered models are stored on my YOUTUBE channel Intelliframer Videos

We liked this model because of it's careful and thoughtful attention to detail. It is very well done.

It is a nice model which uses a lot of plants to soften things up. The retaining wall is really nice, and in general it's not so obvious that this is a computer rendering.

This is a great example of how IRender nXt can improve a landscape model for a good client presentation.
