We’re excited to talk with Rachel LeDuc, a Senior Designer in the Integrated Design Studio at Henry Schein Dental. Henry Schein is the largest distributor of equipment, supplies and services for healthcare practitioners across the globe. Rachel and her colleagues use our IRender SU for SketchUp and nXtRender for AutoCAD rendering extensions.

No wrinkles … quick, high-resolution rendering with nXtRender and IRender SU

Hello Rachel! Please tell us about your team's role at Henry Schein.
Our little corner of Henry Schein here in the U.S. provides space planning (including renderings), specifications and interior design services to our customers, primarily in the dental healthcare field.

When did you start using nXtRender for AutoCAD and why?
nXtRender for AutoCAD came up on our radar in April of 2020 when the rendering solution we had been using was phased out. We needed a new way to provide renderings to our customers that worked with our existing 3d models and was able to produce quality renderings with a minimal learning curve and quick turnaround. Of all the options out there, nXtRender was really the only one that checked all those boxes for us.

And where did IRender SU and SketchUp fit into the picture?
Preemptively we purchased a number of multi-platform licenses knowing we may be exploring other design software for different aspects of our offerings. In 2021 we began using SketchUp and IRender nXt for some of our interior design and marketing purposes. We switched over to IRender SU for SketchUp this past year, which has worked great for our team to create impressive and quick renderings.

What do you like about nXtRender?  Are there any features in the software that you find especially useful?
The AutoCAD extension (tool palette) for nXtRender is great. Simple and to the point, which is crucial for our team of 20+ people who need to use it every day for quick and professional looking renders. We have very quick turnaround times for our projects, and using nXtRender for our renderings has helped our team keep to those deadlines and still ‘wow’ our clients.

What elements do you pay most attention to when rendering?
Getting the right look to a material is essential for us to accurately represent our design intent. We also pay attention to the lighting, making sure to balance natural light and interior light.

Please share some renderings you’ve generated for recent projects using nXtRender and IRender SU.
We recently used nXtRender for a project where we were trying to highlight some new trends in Dental Office design that our team has been noticing, such as Botox Bars and digital check-in kiosks. It allowed us to showcase some of our interior design capabilities to our client, as well as help them visualize how these design features would look in their space.

We also have been utilizing IRender SU for SketchUp for our interior design service and for our marketing needs. Being able to create realistic renderings is essential for these services as we have limited photography opportunities with most of our projects. Rendering helps us fill in those gaps. We recently put together renderings to showcase our furniture service that we offer with our Interior Design team.
