RpReports Tutorial
This RpReports Tutorial will guide you through the
End-user Client
portion of
RpReports
.
Remember that what the client sees is determined by the
Customization
of RpReports.
This tutorial will give you an idea of some of the features available.
Step 1 - install and load
- Install RpReports from the download website: Downloads
- Launch RpReports from the SketchUp Plugins menu:
Step 2 - load the demonstration database
- Click the Demo icon to load the demonstration database. (

Step 3 - Select a component and change its attributes
- Select a component using SketchUp Select.
- Right click on a component and select RpReports Attributes, or
- Left click on a component to select it, and click the Attributes icon. (

Step 4 - Place a new component
Note: The component placement wizard will be replaced by, or augmented by, the components for the OEM Client's custom application.
- Click the Place Attributes icon to load the component selection wizard. (

- Select a component and place it.
Step 5 - Define attributes for the new component.
- The attributes for the new component will be blank because the component is not defined in the projects pre-defined attributes database.
- The End-user Client can only set or change the attributes as defined by the project.
Step 6 - Create a simple report
- Click the Reports icon. (

- Note: This dialog will be customized for the final application, depending on what features the OEM Client wants to include, and which report options the end user can choose.
- For the simple report, set the Bill of Materials level to 0.
- Select HTML output (this makes the fastest report for preview)
- Click 'OK to create the report.
- Note: The directors chair and its attributes were added manually during the demonstration.
- Note: The other items do not have costs because the cost haven't been calculated from the sub-components yet.
Step 7 - choose a different attribute level
Each project can have multiple levels of attributes defined to customize attribute display and reporting.
- Select attribute level 3: (

- Right click on a component to see the additional attributes
- Create a report with additional attributes.
Step 8 - Create an indented Bill of Materials report
In indented bill of materials adds up the costs of sub-components to calculate the cost of each top level assembly.
- Click the Report icon.
- Set the bill of materials level to 1.
In the final project, this will be preset, of defined with radio buttons.
- Click OK to create the report.
Note: Length is included as an attribute to demonstrate the use of calculations based on the component size (perhaps it has been stretched after placement.) It is not really appropriate for the demonstration database.
