Edge Highlighting

Edge Line Highlighting displays the edges of faces when rendered. This is especially valuable with scenes which contain cabinets or furniture where edge line highlighting is necessary to bring out the detail of the components.
What Edge Line Highlighting means to you...
- Visualize detail elements of models.
- Achieve a new rendering style with the addition of edge lines.
- Able to pick which type of edge lines to show as well as the style and size of them.
- Edge lines will be visible in reflections on other objects in the model.
- One button click to render edge lines.
Settings
Settings are available on the
Special Options
tab of the setup dialog.
- Width - sets the approximate width of the edges in pixels.
- No Edge Lines - Do not include edge lines
- All Edges - include all edge lines
- Orphans Only - this displays only edges which are not attached to faces. (Some plant components use orphan edges to represent branches and twigs.)
- All with material set - will only include edges with a material set. This can be used when you want only some edges - such as a ceiling grid - to render. Put a material on the edge in SketchUp and check this option.
Post Processing
This image was photoshoped. Used a rendered image wihtout edge lines (like image #2) and blended it with another image of only edge lines. Note: The edge lines are not reflected.
This image had Sketchy Edges placed on top using the Foreground feature in IRender nXt
You can also add edge lines after rendering, using PhotoShop, or the IRender nXt Foreground Image feature.
Save a hidden line drawing from SketchUp and paste it on top of the rendered image.
