Dear Mr Hart I have been reading with interest your genealogy notes on the internet, as I live in Clavering where I research local history. We have now got a Clavering website and I wondered about putting some of this info on the local history section, with full credit to yourself of course? Can you tell me how you found out all this? We are particularly interested at the moment as we are hoping to do some archaeological surveying of Clavering Castle which it is now suggested was built, not in the 11th century as had been thought, but possibly in the mid-12th century. According to the dates on your site, this would fit the lifetime of Robert FitzRoger born before 1177, or possibly his father Roger FitzRichard. It is felt that the person who built the castle was of some importance and I would be interested in any further notes you may have which might suggest why they built it, considering they already had a home in Warkworth. It may connect more with the de Vere family perhaps as his mother was Alice de Vere, a lady of some importance. Any further light you can shed would be of interest. Thank you Jacqueline Cooper Local History Recorder, Clavering
