Thomas Riley Pullis - was born on 25 Nov 1817 in New York. He is the son of Peter Pullis and Jane Archibald. Thomas married Harriet Berdan. (Sources: - 1) Thomas - served an apprenticeship in an iron foundary in New York. He came to St. Louis in 1839, in company with his brother Christian. Engaged in the manufacture of ornamental iron work under the firm name of C. & T. R. Pullis, later the Mississippi Iron Works. (Sources: - 1 - 2) Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Thomas Riley Pullis Jr was born on 9 Dec 1851 in St. Louis, Mo.. Thomas married Leora Bell Marshall on 1 Feb 1877 in St. Louis, Mo. Leora was born Feb 1858. (Sources: - 2) Thomas - entered his father's maunfacturing establishment n 1868 as an apprentice. When his uncle John Pullis retired in 1874 became a partner with his father in Thomas R. Pullis & sons. T. Romero & Son Building   As the Plaza was transforming to a Victorian environment, four buildings were erected that were related. All had imported cast-iron columns from the T.R. Pullis & Sons Co. in St. Louis, the columns for the four arriving during the same time. The architect for all four was T.J. Raywood, commissioned by different members of the Romero family for each building. It is ironic that it was this Spanish-American family, native to New Mexico, that lead the Plaza into a new era of magnificient Victorian buildings. Built concurrently with this the Trinidad and Serapio Romero store was the H. Romero & Bro. store, the Romero & Romero store, and the Plaza Hotel, which was built by the Plaza Hotel Co., headed by Benigno Romero. This building, along with the Buffalo Bar and the new Romero store ca. 1905, were ruined by fire. Census: 1880 St. Louis, Mo name relation age born in occupation father born mother born T. R. John Pullis - was born on 25 Jul 1812 in New York City and died on 1 Feb 1886 in Indianapolis, Ind. and was buried in Crown Hill - sec 42 lot 64 . He was the son of Peter Pullis and Jane Archibald. John married Eliza Ann Winant on 10 Feb 1839 in Bergen, N.J.. Eliza was born on 26 Apr 1816 in Hackensack, N.J.. She was the daughter of William C Wynant and Sarah Bogart. She died on 8 May 1897 in Indianapolis, Ind. and was buried in Crown Hill Cmty - sec 42 lot 64 . Eliza - Eliza Pullis (widow of John) lived at 626 N. Penn in 1889 and 1890 (Indianapolis City Directory) John - joined his brothers Thomas and Christian in the ironworks in St. Louis, Mo in 1856 and they named it the Mississippi Iron Works. For tem years thereafter a lare business was carried on under the name by the three brothers. John retired in 1874.   Died at family residence - 626 North Penn. William married Jane Desloge on 6 Apr 1869. Jane was born on 19 Feb 1841 in Potosi, Mo. She was the daughter of Firmin Rene Desloge and Cynthian McIlvaine. She died on 29 Dec 1906 in St. Louis, Mo . Jane - - there is an obituary on Jane Desloge Pullis 12/30/1906 in the St. Louis Obityary Index of tWeb: he Saint Louis Public Library. I do not have a copy. Her sister Sophia Desloge was in the household as well. Also her brother John Desloge. Estelle married Samuel Andrew Johnston Sr. on 14 Feb 1865 in St. Louis, Mo.. Samuel was born on 22 Jun 1830 in Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana. He was the son of Samuel Johnston and Susannah Wallace. He died on 16 Mar 1907 in Indianapolis, Ind and was buried in Crown Hill . Estelle - In 1910, she was living at 2111 N. Delaware St. "a place endeared to her by her gracious and hallowed memories of the past" (Greater indianapolis0 Living at 2123 N. Delaware in Indianapolis in 1925 and in 1930 when she died. Obituary in Indianapolis Star - 3/5/1930   Estelle P. widow of the late Samuel Andrew Johnston, passed away Monday afternoon. Funeral services at the residence, 2123 N. Delaware st., Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. Burial Crown Hill cemetery.   Member of the " Daughters of the American Revolution" DAR ID # 52537 ,Vol.53 page 256 See Johnston family for children.
