2. Mary Ann Pugh - was born on 8 Oct 1824 in Butler Co, Ohio and died on 27 Jun 1910 and was buried in Elmwood, Ill. . She was the daughter of Mr. Pugh.
Mary married James Clay Dixon on 10 Aug 1843 in Eaton (Preble Co.), Ohio. James was born on 22 Dec 1822 in Virginia. He was the son of John Dixon and Mary "Polly" Skinner. He died on 17 Feb 1851 and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery .

James - gave his first name as Squire on Wedding License and Tombstone. Was a farmer, living next to Robert Marshall, in Peoria Co., Ill in 1850.
 
Buried in DIXON family plot in Elmwood Cmty. Mary Ann is also buried near this plot, alongside her second husband (Charles B. MOREY)
 
This DIXON plot also contains William D. Dixon, his wife Leticia and their children John W. Dixon, Miles H. Dixon, Mary J. Dixon, William A. Dixon and Sarah E. Dixon.

We had assumed he was born in Ohio. In the 1920 illinois census, William Douglass reported that Emelines father had been born in Virginia. In the 1880 Census, Frank Morris reported that his wife's father was born in South Carolina.
  Then Mary married Charles Benson Morey on 12 Jun 1853 in Peoria, Ill. Charles was born on 13 Jan 1829 in Butler City, Ohio. He died on 16 Mar 1906 in Waterton, Ill. and was buried in Elmwood, Ill. .

Charles - Moved to Potose, Missouri at age 10, then to Newburg, Ill in 1852. Had about 200 acres in Brimfield Twp, Peoria Co., Ill in 1860. Lived adjacent to Robert Marshall.

Moved to Elmwood, Illinois in 1889. It is said that he dug the first grave in Elmwood Cemetery many years before he was buried there.
 
He had a sister, (Mrs. Jane Ritchie) who, in 1906 was living in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mary - moved to Elmwood, Ill in 1889 with her second husband, Charles.
 
There were a William and Lucy PUGH in Preble Co. Ohio, who had 9 children, including John , Alexander and Sherwood, but we haven't tied Mary Ann back to them yet.
