Countess Ermengarde was born in 1018, lived in Anjou, France. She was the daughter of Count Fouiques III "Le Noir" of Anjou and Countess Hildegarde of Anjou. She died on 18/21 Mar 1076 in Anjou, France . He was the son of Count Geoffroy II of the Gatinais and Countess Ermengarde of Anjou. Count Foulques married Beltrade de Montfort (div) 1089 in France. Beltrade was born about 1059, lived in Montfort, Amaury, Ile De France, France. She was the daughter of Simon I de Montfort and Agnes D'Evreux. She died on 14 Feb 1117 in Fontevrault, France .   Then Count Foulques married Hioldegard. Children with Beltrade de Montfort (Quick Family Chart) i.  Count Fouiques V of Anjou was born in 1092, lived in Anjou, France and died on 10 Nov 1143 in Jerusalem, Palestine . See #12. below. Count Fouiques V of Anjou - also known as: le Jeune - was born in 1092, lived in Anjou, France and died on 10 Nov 1143 in Jerusalem, Palestine . He was the son of Count Foulques IV of Anjou and Beltrade de Montfort. Count Fouiques married Ermengarde Du Maine on 11 Jul 1110 in France. Ermengarde was born about 1096 in Maine, France. She was the daughter of Count Elias Du Maine and Matilde de Chateau du Loire. She died in 1126 in Maine, France . Count Fouiques - must have died during the Crusades.   Count of Anjou and King of Jerusalem. Fulk V is a lineal descendant of Pepin, the King of Lombardy and Italy. This Pepin was the son of Charlemagne (721-814), "Emperor of the West" and was the gr. grandson of Charles Martel (688-741). Some genealogists claim that the lineal ancestry is easily traceable from here to Julius Caesar, 1st of Caesar's who lived c300 B.C.   In the line between Caesar and Clovis stands the name of King Colius II of Britain whose name has been preserved in "Mother Goose Tales" as "Old King Cole". Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Count Geoffrey V "le Bon" - "The Handsome" Plantagenet was born on 24 Aug 1113 in Anjou, France and died on 7 Sep 1151 in Chateau, France and was buried in Mans, St. Julian's Church . Count Geoffrey - was Count of Anjou Count of Anjou, Maine, and Touraine in 1129.   Was the first to assume the name Plantagenet. Usually wore on his helmet a sprig of the broom and the French words for this (plante and genet) became the English name Plantagenet.   From the first Geoffrey tried to profit by his amrriage and after the death of Henry I, laid the foundation for the conquest of Normandy. See Plantagenet family for continuation of family line. ii.  Sibylle d'Anjou was born in 1107 and died in 1163 . Sibylle married Thierry of Alsace. Thierry was born about 1100. He was the son of Duke Thierry II de Lorraine and Hedwig of Bavaria. He died on 17 Jan 1168 . See of Metz family for children.
