2.	Henry II of Limburg - was born in 1110 and died in 1167 . He was the son of Count Waleran III of Arlon. Henry married Matilda von Saffenburg. Matilda was born about 1110. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Duke Henry III "the Old" of Limburg was born about 1140 and died in 1221 . See #3. below.

Duke Henry III "the Old" of Limburg - was born about 1140 and died in 1221 . He was the son of Henry II of Limburg and Matilda von Saffenburg. Duke Henry married Sophia von Saarbrucken. Sophia was born about 1140. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Duke Waleran IV of Monshou died in 1226 . See #4. below.

Duke Waleran IV of Monshou - died in 1226 . He was the son of Duke Henry III "the Old" of Limburg and Sophia von Saarbrucken. Duke Waleran married Countess Ermesinde de Luxembourg. Countess Ermesinde was born in 1186. She was the daughter of Henri IV "the Blind" de Luxembourg and Agnes de Geire. She died on 13 Feb 1247 . Countess Ermesinde - ruled Luxembourg from 1196 until 1247.   In 1186, Henri Iv was an old man who expected to die without heirs. He had already named Boudewijn V, Count of Hainaut (and later also of Flanders) as his successor. Then his daughter Ermesinde was born. He made her his heir instead, and a war of succession broke out. The outcome was that Ermesinde became Countess of Luxembourg, Durbuy and Laroche, and Boudewijn V's second son Philipe became Count of Namur. Luxembourg and Limburg were politically united again through Ermesinde's marriage to "Duke Walram". After Walram's death, Countess Ermesinde ruled Luxembourg alone for another 20 years.   She took over government duties in 1225 and proved to be an effective leader as she improved the political and social condition of her subjects. She granted charters or letters of freedom to several towns including Echternach (1236) and Luxembourg (1244). She died in 1247 after skillfully expanding the county of Luxembourg to three times its original size. Count Henri V "the Blond" de Luxembourg - was born in 1217, lived in Luxembourg, Belgium and died on 24 Nov 1281 . He was the son of Duke Waleran IV of Monshou and Countess Ermesinde de Luxembourg. Count Henri married Marguerite de Bar on 4 Jun 1240. Marguerite was born about 1220, lived in Luxembourg, Belgium. She died on 23 Nov 1275 . Count Henri - ruled Luxembourg from 1247-1281. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Countess Philippine de Luxembourg was born about 1252, lived in Luxembourg and died on 6 Apr 1311 in Valenciennes, Nord, France . Countess Philippine married Count Jean de Avesnes II in 1270. Count Jean was born about 1247, lived in Valenciennes, Nord, France. He was the son of Jean de Avesnes I and Countess Aleida of Holland. He died Sep 1304 in Valenciennes, Nord, France . See de Avesnes family for children. ii.  Count Henri VI de Luxembourg was born in 1252 and died on 5 May 1288 . See #6. below.

Count Henri VI de Luxembourg - was born in 1252 and died on 5 May 1288 . He was the son of Count Henri V "the Blond" de Luxembourg and Marguerite de Bar. Count Henri - ruled Luxembourg from 1281 until 1288. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Jean "the Blind" de Luxembourg was born in 1296 and died on 26 Aug 1346 .
