John Marshall - was born about 1126 and died in 1164 . He was the son of Gilbert Marshall. John married Sybil de Evereaux. She is the daughter of Walter de Evereaux and Sybill de Chaworth. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Earl William Marshall was born in 1144/1146, lived in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales and died on 14 May 1219 in Caversham Manor, England and was buried in Temple Church, London . Earl William Marshall - was born in 1144/1146, lived in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales and died on 14 May 1219 in Caversham Manor, England and was buried in Temple Church, London . He was the son of John Marshall and Sybil de Evereaux. Earl William married Isabel Fitzgilbert de Clare Aug 1189 in London, Middlesex, England. Isabel was born about 1172, lived in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. She was the daughter of Richard "Strongbow" de Clare and Aoife of Leinster. She died in 1220 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales and was buried in Tintern Abbey, Tintern, Monmouthshire, England. . Earl William - - 4th Earl of Perbroke.   William was sent to his father's cousin William of Tancarville, hereditary Chamberlain of Normandy, to be trained as a knight in c1159. He was knighted, probably by his uncle, in 1167.   In 1189 he rebuilt Pembroke Castle, Wales.   In 1192, he built the stone Kilkenny Castle (later became the seat of the Earls of Ormonde). The first structure on this strategic site overlooking the River Nore was a wooden tower built in 1172 by the Anglo-Norman conqueror of Ireland, Richard de Clare, also known as Strongbow. Twenty years later his son in law William Marshall erected the stone castle with four towers, three of which are part of the current structure.   In about 1200 he rebuilt Castle, Wales   Founded New Ross, Co.Wexford, founded Tintern Abbey, New Ross, Co.Wexford, c.1200 see [Marsden and Mclaren, 1997],   Built Carlow Castle 1208, rebuilt Usk Castle, Wales, c.1212-19, through his wife inherited Dunamase, Co.Laois, first mention of Dunamase Castle is 1215, when John ordered Geoffrey Lutterel to hand it over to Marshal,   appears in King John by Shakespeare, Governor of England 1216-9 (in minority of Henry III), Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Countess Maud Marshall was born in 1190, lived in Pembroke, Wales and died on 27 Mar 1248 and was buried in Tintern Abbey, Chapel Hill, Monmouthshire, England . ii.  William "the Surety" Marshall II was born about 1195. William - commissioned a record of his father's life. "L' Historie de Guillaume le Marechal". It is a metrical history of a man and of the knightly class in the late twelfth and early thirteenth century. iii.  Eve Marshall was born about 1194, lived in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales and died before 1246 in England . Eve married Willaim "Black William" de Braose on 2 May 1230 while living in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Willaim was born in 1204 in Brecknock, Surrey, England. He was the son of Reginald de Braose and Gracia Briwere. He died on 2 May 1230 in Wales . Eve - continued to hold Braose lands and castles in her own right after the death of her husband. Dugdale mentions her as holder of Totnes in 1230. It is recorded in the Close Rolls (1234-7) that Henry III granted 12 marks to her to strengthen the castle at Hay. See de Braose family for children. iv.  Isabel Marshall was born in 1206 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales and died on 16 Jan 1240 in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, Lincoln and was buried in Beaulieu, Southampton, England . Isabel married Earl of Gloucester Gilbert de Clare on 9 Oct 1217. Earl of Gloucester Gilbert was born in 1182 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England. He was the son of Earl Richard de Clare and Amice Fitzrobert. He died on 25 Oct 1230 in Penrose, Brittany, France . See De Claire family for children.

Countess Maud Marshall - also known as: Matilda - was born in 1190, lived in Pembroke, Wales and died on 27 Mar 1248 and was buried in Tintern Abbey, Chapel Hill, Monmouthshire, England . She was the daughter of Earl William Marshall and Isabel Fitzgilbert de Clare. Countess Maud married Hugh Bigod before 1207 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Hugh was born about 1186, lived in Thetford, Norfolk, England. He was the son of Roger Bigod and Ida Plantagent. He died on 18 Feb 1225 in England . Hugh - 3rd Earl of Norfolk.   Then Countess Maud married Earl William Plantagenet de Warenne. Earl William was born in 1166 in Surry, England. He was the son of Hamelin Plantagenet and Isabel de Warenne. He died on 27 May 1240 in London, England and was buried in Lewes, Sussex, England .
