1.	James Jones - was born in Wales. James married Sarah Howdeshell. Sarah was born about 1761. James - came to the USA in the 18th Century and settled in Ohio. Henry W Jones - was born in 1782 in Culpepper Co., VA and died Aug 1849 in Peoria Co., IL . He was the son of James Jones and Sarah Howdeshell. Henry married Sarah Zian. Sarah was born in 1784/1785 in near the Juniata River in Pennsylvania. She died after 1864 in Peoria, Co., IL . Sarah - was reported in 1850 census with her son James Jones after Henry died in 1849. Was reported in 1860 census with her daughter in law Amanda Jones after James died in 1854. Census: 1860 Peoria - Limestone Twp - page 671 Sarah Jones 75 on farm PA Amanda Jones 32 on farm KY Emily Jones 10   IL John Jones   7 IL   "Mr. Jones mother lived to be 89" (Sources: - 1) Henry - "upon growing to maturity, they married and settled in Gallia county, Ohio, whence they removed to Jackson county about 1824. In 1831, they came to Peoria county, IL settling in Limestone Township, on what was known as Jones Prairie or Jones' Spring. There Mr. Jones breathed his last about 1852, his surviving several years. Their family comprised two sons and six daughters." (Peoria Co. Clarissa Jones - was born in 1809/1810. She is the daughter of Henry W Jones and Sarah Zian. Clarissa married Aquilla Wren Jan 1826 in Jackson Co., Ohio. Aquilla was born in 1803 in Fauquier Co., VA. He died in 1844 . Aquilla - In1829 the Wrens journeyed westward for a new start.and settled in Springfield, Illinois, where he opened a store. A year later Aquilla and Clarissa Wren moved seventy miles north to the small village of Peoria, where he opened another dry goods store, purchased land, and became one of the town's leading merchants.   On the 5th of March, 1832 Aqulla Wren was elected county commissioner, in place of Stephen French, resigned. At the September term, 1836, Aquilla Wren, Samuel T. McKean and William J. Phelps took their seats as county commissioners, Mitchell as cleak and Bryant as sheriff. (from "History of Peoria" by C. Buxton and Henry Wolford founded the first newspaper in Peoria, Illinois and called it the "Illinois Champion and Peoria Herald". From its pages the reader learned that... Aquilla Wren deisred his patrons to know that he had on sale Kanawha and Cenemaugh salt, fresh raisins, Cognac brandy, white Malage wine, Maderia and port wine, London Particular Teneriffe, claret wine, Muscat wine, brown sugar, burr millstones and other things. (From Peoria, city and county, Illinois - page 327) 1840 Census Peoria CO. Illinois Aquila Wren3 males 15 to 201 male 30 to 401 female 20 to 301 female 30 to 40(probably these are farm workers, except for Aquilla and Clarissa)   I have checked your "Our Folk-Hart Family" on Ancestry and thought you might like to correct a couple of errors.   Aquila Wren was born 1803 in Fauquier Co., VA, son of Thomas Wren and Nancy Turley (they married there 29 March 1798). I have examined the age of death in the Peoria records and found what was interpreted as age 47 when he died, actually was 41. The "1" had a long serif and could have been mistaken for a 7. You will find the DOB 1803 fits correctly with the age given in the census records.   In 1840, the extra people in the Wren household:   Two of the younger males were Aquila's brother, Thomas Wren (born 1826), and a young man who worked for him, Sylvester Armstrong. The census says two were engaged in Commerce, so the third man may have been Lowry, his partner. The other female was the hired-girl, Melinda McCarty, who worked for the Wrens and gave some rather dicey testimony as to Clarissa's activities. (I have a copy of the Bill for Divorce and have examined the files at the Peoria Court House. Clarissa, apparently, was "unfaithful" already when they lived in Sangamon Co.!)   It's likely that Wren and the other males tended to his farm. An inventory of his estate included 1 old horse, a variety of cattle of which there were 3 pair of working cattle, 1 jackass, 1 Jenny and 33 sheep and lambs. Aquila had served on the Committee on sheep at the Peoria County Agricultural Society fair in the fall of 1841.   The Peoria Will Books do not have Aquila's will -- but I found several pieces of paper in the Probate file which, when pieced together, were that document, dated 29 July 1844 and witnessed by N. H. Purple, Smith Frye and A. O. Garret. Since his wishes in the will were carried out, it appears to be his legal will, 'tho not recorded.   The young brother, Thomas Wren, fell prey to an unscrupulous lawyer who ended up with all the money. Thomas moved west, mined in California, worked for mining companies in Nevada, became a judge and in 1876 was elected to the Forty-fifth Congress. In 1881 he became the U. S. Senator representing Nevada.   (email from Jane Scottie - Mar 2006 (Sources: - 2 - 3 (327) )   Then Clarissa married Amaziah Hart on 29 Oct 1846 in Peoria Co., Ill. Amaziah was born about 1805 in Kentucky. He was the son of David Hart and Hannah Jones. He died Oct 1847 in Illinois . Amaziah - 1840 Census Fleming Co., KY - 1st Division of Fleming Co. The HART children were living on two farms, those of George Norwood and James Jones in Peoria Co., Ill in 1850.   In Sep 1843, Amaziah Hart and Hannah Hart (his aunt) deeded land in Fleming Co., Ky. to Abram Megowan   Amaziah died "intestate" on or about Oct 7, 1847. Administrator Clarissa Hart, widow. Bond $2,500 by Clarissa Hart, Henry Jones, James Jones. (Sources: - 2)   Then Clarissa married Sanford White. Clarissa - Abraham Lincoln came to Peoria in 1844 to get involved in her sensational divorce case. Her first husband Aquilla Wren, former county commissioner, merchant and real estate owner was granted a decree after a finding by a jury that his wife Clarissa (Jones) Wren had been guilty of misconduct. Lincoln seems to have come into the case late in the term of court when he assisted Elihu H. Powell and William F. Bryan in their efforts to obtain a new trial.   Aquila Wren died during their divorce proceedings on Aug 15, 1844. She married Amiziah Hart in October 1946 and gave up her interest in the lawsuits against the Wren family. After Amiziah died in October 1947, within 8 months, she married again to Sanford White.   Had a brother in law named Seth Griffin. (Sources: - 2)

James Jones - was born about 1815 in Ohio and died on 27 Dec 1854 in Peoria Co., Ill. and was buried in Norwood Cmty. . He was the son of Henry W Jones and Sarah Zian. James married Lucinda Hart on 24 Nov 1846 in Peoria Co., Ill. Lucinda was born in 1827/1828 in Kentucky. She was the daughter of Amaziah Hart and Louise Gooding. She died on 11 Sep 1849 in Peoria Co., Ill and was buried in Norwood Cmty. . Lucinda - From 1850 Peoria County Mortality Schedule: Lucenda JONES 22 f m KY Sept (1849) Consumption James - had a first wife, Virginia A. Jones who died in childbirth Mar 13, 1845.   After Amaziah Hart died, 5 of the HART children, including Fielding and David went to live with there brother-in-law James (who must have remarried after Lucinda Hart's death, on the farm adjoining George Norwood   Lucinda Hart was James's second wife. After Lucinda died, he married again to an Amanda. "James Jones married Amanda D. Jones on Jan 26, 1850 in Peoria Co. Maybe she was married to a Jones before she married James... This Amanda was born in Kentucky as was Amanda D., the wife of George Jones." Henry Wills Jones - was born on 7 Feb 1819 in Gallia Co., Ohio and died in 1899 and was buried in Jones Family Cemetery, Kickapoo Twp, Sec 34, Peoria Co., Ill . He was the son of Henry W Jones and Sarah Zian. Henry married Rebecca Miller on 30 Oct 1842. Rebecca was born on 28 Dec 1821 in Shelby Co., KY. She was the daughter of Reuben Miller and Nancy Sturgeon. She died on 7 Nov 1897 and was buried in Jones Family Cemetery, Kickapoo Twp, Sec 34, Peoria Co., Ill . Rebecca - "Mrs Jones'sgrandfather was 116 years of age when she last saw him in 1829 and her mother lived to be 87." (Sources: - 1) Henry - Submitted to "Praire Pioneers of Illinois" by Gerald L. Jones came at an early age and settled in the north part of Limestone township. From him, or members of his family, we have then name of Jones' Prairie and Jone's Spring, situated on and along the Farmington Road. James Crowe also came about the same time as Jones, but on account of Indiana troubles in 1832, he went back to his home in Ohio, but returned in 1834 and settled in the north part of the township.   June 10, 1837, Henry Jones laid out a town plat on the southwest quarter of section 3, and the southeast corner of section 4, which he called Summerville. It was located on what is not the Farmington road, just north of the county farm.   (From History of Peoria County, By Col. James M. Rice - 1912 - page 276,279)   Resources: Henry-Jones-Family Jones Family Cemetery   The land were the Jones Family Cemetery is located was first owned by Henry W. Jones,1849. In 1932 the granddaughter of Henry, Malinda Kershaw, sold what remained of the Jones' land.
