Henry W Jones - was born in 1782 in Culpepper Co., VA and died Aug 1849 in Peoria Co., IL .
He was the son of James Jones and Sarah Howdeshell.
Henry married Sarah Zian. Sarah was born in 1784/1785 in near the Juniata River in Pennsylvania. She died after 1864 in Peoria, Co., IL . Sarah - was reported in 1850 census with her son James Jones after Henry died in 1849. Was reported in 1860 census with her daughter in law Amanda Jones after James died in 1854.
"Mr. Jones mother lived to be 89" (Sources: - 1) Henry - "upon growing to maturity, they married and settled in Gallia county, Ohio, whence they removed to Jackson county about 1824. In 1831, they came to Peoria county, IL settling in Limestone Township, on what was known as Jones Prairie or Jones' Spring. There Mr. Jones breathed his last about 1852, his surviving several years. Their family comprised two sons and six daughters." (Peoria Co. Portrait and Biographical Album 1890 Page 198) Listed as an original member of the Peoria Old Settler's Society in 1867, arriving in Peoria Nov 1, 1831. (from "History of Peoria" by C. Clarissa Jones - was born in 1809/1810.
She is the daughter of Henry W Jones and Sarah Zian.
Clarissa married Aquilla Wren Jan 1826 in Jackson Co., Ohio. Aquilla was born in 1803 in Fauquier Co., VA. He died in 1844 . Aquilla - In1829 the Wrens journeyed westward for a new start.and settled in Springfield, Illinois, where he opened a store. A year later Aquilla and Clarissa Wren moved seventy miles north to the small village of Peoria, where he opened another dry goods store, purchased land, and became one of the town's leading merchants.
In March 1835 Abram S. Buxton and Henry Wolford founded the first newspaper in Peoria, Illinois and called it the "Illinois Champion and Peoria Herald". From its pages the reader learned that... Aquilla Wren deisred his patrons to know that he had on sale Kanawha and Cenemaugh salt, fresh raisins, Cognac brandy, white Malage wine, Maderia and port wine, London Particular Teneriffe, claret wine, Muscat wine, brown sugar, burr millstones and other things. Then Clarissa married Amaziah Hart on 29 Oct 1846 in Peoria Co., Ill. Amaziah was born about 1805 in Kentucky. He was the son of David Hart and Hannah Jones. He died Oct 1847 in Illinois . Amaziah -
Born In Kentucky, he moved to Illinois about 1843 and both he and his wife died before 1850. The HART children were living on two farms, those of George Norwood and James Jones in Peoria Co., Ill in 1850. In Sep 1843, Amaziah Hart and Hannah Hart (his aunt) deeded land in Fleming Co., Ky. to Abram Megowan Amaziah died "intestate" on or about Oct 7, 1847. Administrator Clarissa Hart, widow. Bond $2,500 by Clarissa Hart, Henry Jones, James Jones. (Sources: - 2) Then Clarissa married Sanford White. Clarissa - Abraham Lincoln came to Peoria in 1844 to get involved in her sensational divorce case. Her first husband Aquilla Wren, former county commissioner, merchant and real estate owner was granted a decree after a finding by a jury that his wife Clarissa (Jones) Wren had been guilty of misconduct. Lincoln seems to have come into the case late in the term of court when he assisted Elihu H. Powell and William F. Bryan in their efforts to obtain a new trial. Aquila Wren died during their divorce proceedings on Aug 15, 1844. She married Amiziah Hart in October 1946 and gave up her interest in the lawsuits against the Wren family. After Amiziah died in October 1947, within 8 months, she married again to Sanford White. Had a brother in law named Seth Griffin. James married Lucinda Hart on 24 Nov 1846 in Peoria Co., Ill. Lucinda was born in 1827/1828 in Kentucky. She was the daughter of Amaziah Hart and Louise Gooding. She died on 11 Sep 1849 in Peoria Co., Ill and was buried in Norwood Cmty. . Lucinda - From 1850 Peoria County Mortality Schedule: Lucenda JONES 22 f m KY Sept (1849) Consumption James - had a first wife, Virginia A. Jones who died in childbirth Mar 13, 1845. After Amaziah Hart died, 5 of the HART children, including Fielding and David went to live with there brother-in-law James (who must have remarried after Lucinda Hart's death, on the farm adjoining George Norwood Lucinda Hart was James's second wife. After Lucinda died, he married again to an Amanda. "James Jones married Amanda D. Jones on Jan 26, 1850 in Peoria Co. Maybe she was married to a Jones before she married James... This Amanda was born in Kentucky as was Amanda D., the wife of George Jones." (letter from Jean sigulas 1993)
In his estate settlement there is a debt for drafting a divorce for Clarissa Wren.

Henry married Rebecca Miller on 30 Oct 1842. Rebecca was born on 28 Dec 1821 in Shelby Co., KY. She was the daughter of Reuben Miller and Nancy Sturgeon. She died on 7 Nov 1897 and was buried in Jones Family Cemetery, Kickapoo Twp, Sec 34, Peoria Co., Ill .
