Sir Robert de Hyde - was born about 1193 in Hyde, Cheshire, England and died after 1225 . He was the son of Matthew de Hyde. Sir Robert married Agnes de Herdislee about 1218 in Herdislee, Cheshire, England. Agnes was born about 1197. Sir Robert - was Lord of the Manor of Hyde and Newton in Cheshire, Shallcross and Ferneley in Derbyshire, about 1209-1228, and Halghton and Denton in Lancashire about 1225, in which county he had also nine oxgangs of land in Heiton. He was living in the time of Henry III. He married Agnes de Herdislee, cousin and heiress of Thomas de Norbury, who quitclaimed to Robert Hyde his right in Norbury, Newton and half Hyde, and thus Norbury came to the Hydes by this marriage. John Hyde - was born in 1245 in Norbury, Cheshire, England and died after 1317 . He was the son of Robert Hyde and Margaret Stokeport. John married Isabel de Baggilegh about 1270. Isabel was born about 1249 in Baggilegh, Cheshire, England. She was the daughter of William de Baggilegh. She died after 1358 . John -   Sir John Hyde , knt. of Norbury and Hyde , a gallant soldier and one of the companions in arms of the Black Prince, espoused, first, Margaret , dau. of Sir John Davenport , and had two sons, John and Roger , mentioned in settlements of the manor of Norbury , who appear both to have died issueless. Sir John wedded, secondly, one of the daughters of Sir William Baggiley , of Baggiley, and sister and co-heiress of John Baggiley , of Baggiley , by whom he obtained several estates; and the Hydes henceforth used the arms of Baggiley , inverting the colours, and adding a chevron, for difference. William Hyde - was born in 1600 in Stockport, England and died on 6 Jan 1681 in Norwich, CT . He was the son of William Hyde and Eleanor Molineux. William married Mrs..   Then William married Joanna. She died after 1682 . William - came to America from Chestershire (Cheshire), England.   "Founder and original proprietor of Hartford, 1636. Selectman 1637." (This is stated on a monument in an old graveyard of First Church of Hartford, Conn.)   No children from his second marriage to Joanne, the widow of Robert Abell.   Willima Hyde came to New England from old England in 1633 in company with the Rev. Thomas Hooker, the first minister at Hartford. For a short time they remained at Newton, mass., and then both came to Hartord in 1636.   At a later period, William Hyde went to Saybrook, where his daughter was married in 1652; still later, Mr. Hyde and son Samuel were among the thirty-five original proprietors of Norwich.   There he died in 1781, a man of considerable importance in colonial affairs.   (Biographical Record of Tolland and Windham Counties, page 301) (Sources: - 5) Children with Mrs. (Quick Family Chart) i.  Hester Hyde was born about 1625 in England and died on 13 Nov 1703 in Norwich, CT . Samuel Hyde - was born about 1637 in Hartforf, CT and died Jul 1677 in Norwich, CT . He was the son of William Hyde. Samuel married Jane Lee Jun 1659 in Saybrook, CT. Jane was born on 12 Sep 1640 in England. She was the daughter of Thomas Lee and Phoebe Brown. She died on 12 Jan 1722/1723 in Lebanon, New London, CT . Samuel - is reckoned among the first proprietors of Norwich, as is likewise his father.   The descendants of the five sons of Samuel Hyde in 1779 showed updards of twenty families of Hydes, comprising 150 persons in the town plot and western part of Norwich.   "Samuel and Jann (Lee) Hyde are also the ancestors of Grover Cleveland, President of the United States. Their eldest son, John Hyde, who married experience abel, had a son James, known as Capt. James Hyde, who married Sarah Marshall. They in turn had a daughter, Abiah Hyde, who married Rev. Aaron Cleveland. John Hyde - was born Dec 1667 in Norwich, CT and died on 26 Jul 1727 in Norwich, CT . He was the son of Samuel Hyde and Jane Lee. John married Experience Abell. Experience was born Dec 1674 in Norwich, CT. She was the daughter of Sergt. Caleb Abell and Margaret Post. She died on 24 Oct 1763 in Norwich, CT . John - was a farmer and in 1719 bought a farm from Nathenial Backus at Wawecus Hill which remained in the hands of his descendants until 1859.   President Grover Cleaveland is a lineal descendant of John and Experiance (Abell) Hyde. Experience Hyde - was born on 7 Sep 1700 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut and died on 30 Sep 1753 . She was the daughter of John Hyde and Experience Abell. Experience married Samuel Gifford on 12 Jun 1720. Samuel was born on 23 Sep 1694 in Windham, Windham, Connecticut. He was the son of Samuel Gifford and Mary Calkins. Capt. James Hyde - He is the son of John Hyde and Experience Abell. Capt. James married Sarah Marshall. Sarah was born on 12 Apr 1720. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Abiah Hyde was born on 27 Dec 1749 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut and died on 23 Aug 1788 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut .
