William Hartwell - was born in 1613 in Kent, England and died on 12 Mar 1690 in Concord, Mass. .
William married Jazon about 1636. Jazon was born in 1608. She died on 5 Aug 1695 . William - was one of the pioneers of Concord, Mass. He was settled about a mile east along Bay Rd - then a simple Indian trail, and found vacant land just east of the property once occupied by Ephraim W. Bull, the originator of the Concord grape. He probably reached Concord in 1636. He was made a freeman of the colony in 1642. In 1666 he was a large landholde with 157 acres in 20 tracts.

John Hartwell - was born on 23 Dec 1640 in Concord, Mass. and died on 12 Jan 1702/1703 .
He was the son of William Hartwell.
John married Priscilla Wright on 1 Jun 1664. Priscilla was born about 1645. She was the daughter of John Wright and Priscilla Byfield. She died on 3 May 1681 . Then John married Elizabeth Wright on 23 Oct 1682. Elizabeth was born about 1655. She was the daughter of Edward Wright and Elizabeth Mellowes. She died on 16 Dec 1704 in Concord, MA . John - served in King Phillip's War in the company of Capt. Thomas Wheeler. He was made a freeman Mar 21, 1689/90. He owned several small tracts of land scattered oer the town of Concord. On Apr 19, 1697, he was one of a commitee to run liens between Blood's farms and the Chelmsford line. In 1699/1700 he deeded to

Ebenezer Hartwell - was born on 5 Apr 1665 in Concord, Mass.
He is the son of John Hartwell and Priscilla Wright.
Ebenezer married Sarah Smeadley on 27 Mar 1690 in Concord, Mass.. She is the daughter of John Smeadley and Sarah Wheeler. Ebenezer - inherited much land from his father, and by in 1698, his father-in-law conveyed to them the south half of a house and lot in Concord, where John S. Keyes lived about 1885. Appointed to a committee to plant 30 trees for shade on the sheep common - penalty for anyone cutting one of the trees was 10 shillings. From records he appeared to be a man of superior business acumen. He was a field driver (hayward) in 1696, fence viewer in 1700 and field driver again in 1702 and 1708. His estate was worth 520 pounds.

Sarah Hartwell - was born on 28 Jul 1694 in Concord, Mass..
She is the daughter of Ebenezer Hartwell and Sarah Smeadley.
Sarah married Jonathan Melvin on 28 Feb 1714 in Concord, Mass.. Jonathan was born on 29 May 1688 in Charlestown, Mass.. He was the son of John Melvin and Hannah Lewis. He died on 11 Feb 1736 in Concord, MA . Jonathan - bought a strip of land in Concord in 1724. Although his name does not appear on the various war rolls, he must have shared in some of the "fights" since he was the possessor of a sword and at least two guns. He bequeathed his sword to his fourth son and a gun to each of his sons John and Jonathan. They lived on a farm adjoining Sarah's brother John in Concord, Mass. (Sources: - 1) Then Sarah married Elisha Smith on 15 Apr 1741 in Concord, Mass.. Sarah - moved to Worcester, Mass. after she married Elisha Smith who was from there.
