John Eells - was born about 1575 and died on 25 Nov 1653 .
John - came from Barnstable, England and was made a freeman, in Dorchester, Mass, on May 14, 1634. Called a "beehive maker" in Newbury, Mass. in 1645. Believed to have lived in Hingham in 1640. Returned to England after 1641. A John Eells, Jr was chosen cow keeper in Dorchester, Mass. in 1640. This could have been John or his Son.

Samuel Eells - was born on 1 May 1640 in Dorchester, Mass. and died on 21 Apr 1709 in Hingham, Mass. .
He was the son of John Eells.
Samuel married Anna Lenthall on 1 Aug 1663 in Milford, Conn.. Anna was born about 1644 in Surrey, England. She was the daughter of Robert Lenthall. She died Feb 1687 in Milford, Conn. . Anna - in Nans fathers will he mentioned a infirmity in Nans sight. (Sources: - 4) Then Samuel married Sarah Bateman on 22 Aug 1689 in Hingham, Mass.. Sarah was born about 1668. She was the daughter of John Bateman. She died on 2 Nov 1738 . Samuel - was a militia officer in Phillip's was and after was at Fairfield in 1687. The Eells-Stow House is believed to be the oldest house in Milford, CT and takes part of its name from the Eells family, who arrived in Milford in the later 17th century from the Boston area. It was built by Samuel Eells about 1670. It was sold, in 1754, by his grandson, Nathaniel Eells to Captain Stephen Stowe. Samuel Eells came to Milford with his bride in 1668. In Milford he was town cleark and on commitee to revise town records. Custom master for New Haven COunty and deputy to General Court Assembly for 12 sessions. After his wife's death, he moved to Hingham, Mass. Upon his death, the Wharf Lane property was inherited by his son, Col. Samuel Eells. Settled at Hingham, of which he was representative in 1705. Purchased nine acres of land, meadow and orchard in Hingham in 1705. He was an infant when he returned to England with his father in 1641. Just when he returned to America is unknown, however he was married there in 1763. He was a weaver in Milford in 1670. According to his will, he was a shopkeeper when he died.

Col. Samuel Eells Jr. - was born on 2 Sep 1666 in Milford, Conn. and died in 1714 in Milford,New Haven,Ct .
He was the son of Samuel Eells and Anna Lenthall.
Col. Samuel married Esther Oviatt. Esther was born on 28 Mar 1665. She is the daughter of Thomas Oviatt. Then Col. Samuel married Martha Whiting about 1701 in Milford,New Haven,Ct. Martha was born in 1662 in Milford,New Haven,Ct. She was the daughter of Rev John Whiting and Sybil Collins. She died on 7 Mar 1740 in Milford,New Haven,Ct . Martha - - first husband was Samuel Bryan (Sources: - 4) Then Col. Samuel married Rebecca Wilkinson. Rebecca was born on 8 Aug 1676. She died in 1751/1752 . Rebecca - widow of Samuel Baldwin and dau. of Edward and Rebecca (Smith) Wilkninson. (Sources: - 5) Col. Samuel - married 1) Esther Oviatt, 2) Martha Whiting, 3) Rebecca Wilkenson. He had a total of 4 children. Col. Samuel Eells was very prominent in the affairs of both Milford and New Haven Colony. He married Martha Whiting Bryan (his second wife) who bore him a son, Nathaniel. Nathaniel married Martha Stow who unfortunately only lived for seven months after the wedding. The widowed Nathaniel then moved to Middletown. He eventually inherited the Wharf Lane property from his step-mother (the Col.s third wife) which he then sold to Stephen Stow, his deceased wife's brother. (Sources: - 4 - 2)

Nathaniel Eells - was born on 25 Nov 1677 in Milford, Conn. and died on 25 Aug 1750 .
He was the son of Samuel Eells and Anna Lenthall.
Nathaniel married Hannah North on 12 Oct 1704 in Hingham, Mass.. Hannah was born about 1679. She was the daughter of Edward North and Sarah Bateman. She died on 2 May 1754 . Nathaniel - partook in the Whitfield controversy in 1745. Graduated from Harvard College in 1699 and was ordained as a minister in Scituate, Mass. in 1704. His father moved to Mass. when he was eleven years old, and he is supposed to have accompanied him. He became a reverend and starting preaching in Scituate about 1704. Three of his sermons were printed and are preserved in the library of the Connecticut Historical Societies - a fourth is preserved in the library of Yale University. By the will of his father, he received "three dozen Silver Coat Buttons, a gun and a cane." Family tradition is that Nathaniel married his step-sister Hannah.

John married Anna Beard on 11 Jan 1727/1728. Anna was born on 30 Jun 1701. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Beard and Mercy Petit. She died on 8 May 1736 in New Canann, COnn . (Sources: - 4 - 5) Then John married Abigail Comstock Sep 1737. She was the daughter of Moses Comstock and Abigail Brinsmade. She died Jan 1785 . (Sources: - 7) John - studied theology at Yale and gradutated in 1724, and in May, 1732, began to preach i the parish which had been constituted a year before, in the town of New Canann, Ct. He was forced to resign in 1741 and remained in New Canaan as a farmer. (Sources: - 4 - 2)

Jeremiah Beard Eells - was born on 21 Dec 1732 in New Canaan,Fairfield,Ct. and died on 12 Nov 1815 in New Canaan,Fairfield,Ct. and was buried in Carter St. Cemetary .
He was the son of John Eells and Anna Beard.
Jeremiah married Lois Benedict on 28 Nov 1754 in Stamford, New Canaan. Lois was born in 1735 in New Amsterdam, Ny. She is the daughter of John Benedict and Dinah Boughton. (Sources: - 4) Then Jeremiah married Hannah Comstock on 28 Nov 1754 in Norwalk, Conn. Hannah was born in 1735. (Sources: - 8) Jeremiah - was a seaman and captain. Ensign and later Captain of the 9th Conn. Militia. He was an ardent patiot, who took up arms for his country at the beginning of the revolution and contunied in active serrvice during most of the conflict. He was soon promoted to a lieutenant of the Coast Gard, and while serving in this capacity he was captured by the Tories, March 14, 1777, and taken to New Lots, Long Island, a part of the present city of Brooklyn; where record of his is found under the date of Augst 11, 1778. His release took place Jan 31, 1779. In spite of this harrowing experience he rejoined the army and in 1781 was at West Point, NY, serving as lieutenant under Col. Samuel Canfield. Jeremiah Eells was a charter member of the Somerset Lodge, No 34, of the Free and Accepted Masons of Norwich, Conn. in 1795
