Henrietta was born on 14 Oct 1846 in Wayne Twp., Clinton, Ohio. She died on 19 Feb 1925 in Winchester, Randolph, Indiana and was buried in Union Cemetery, Windsor, Fulton, Indiana . Cora Ellen Drake - was born on 22 Jul 1868 in Blountsville, Henry, Indiana and died on 18 Oct 1942 in Grand Blanc, Genesee, Michigan and was buried in Fairview Cem., Vincennes, Knox, Indiana . She was the daughter of Jobe Drake and Henrietta Evans. Cora married Charles Morris Brown on 12 Jul 1893 in 12 Jul 1893. Charles was born on 1 Oct 1865 in Delaware Co, In. He died on 19 Mar 1943 in Grand Blanc, Genesee Co, Mi . Claude Keaton Drake - was born on 12 Sep 1889 in Blountsville, Henry County, Indiana and died on 24 Dec 1958 in Pompano Beach, Broward Co, Fl and was buried in Pompano Beach, Fl. . He was the son of Charles Morris Brown and Cora Ellen Drake. Claude married Ora M. Presnell in 1916 in Tippecanoe Co., Indiana. Ora was born in 1888 in Indiana. She died in 1920 . Ora - "My father was married in his 20's to one of the Presnell girls from Vincennes. I don't know whether her name was Ava or Ora. Our family was friends with the Presnells for many years and they visited us in Miami. I recall visiting them in Vincennes. She was a schoolteacher and evidently a lovely person. She died tragically of pneumonia." (Alan Drake - 2004)   Then Claude married Margaret Lillian Hart on 14 May 1921. Margaret was born on 29 Oct 1892 in Peoria, Ill. She was the daughter of Norwood Fielding Hart and Magdalena "Lenna" Reuter. She died on 30 Aug 1979 in Birmingham, Ala. and was buried in Pompano Beach, Fl. . Margaret - Mrs. Margaret Hart Drake   Mrs. Margaret Hart Drake, 86, of 2901 Pahokee Trace, died yesterday. Funeral will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Pompano City Cemetery, Pompano beach, Fla.   She was born in Peoria, Ill. and formerly lived in Miami. survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jean Vaughn, Birmingham; a son, Dr. Alan H. Drake, Ada Ohio; and a brother, Albert T. Hart, Pompano Beach, Fla.   Margaret had an earlier marriage which didn't work out and which was hushed up. "I finally learned that my mother who was quite a beautiful and virtuous young lady from a good family made the mistake of marrying what in turned out to be a real rounder. He took her to Kansas City on their "honeymoon" and left her there, high and dry. She managed to call home and get back to Peoria, but after that, she felt it necessary to leave, so she went to Chicago and got the job with IC. The funny thing is that we were close to "Uncle George and Aunt Mae" from Chicago. One or the other of them was a sibling of the loser that married my mom, but they kept up a friendship over the years. " (Alan Hart Drake 2004)   "My mother at the time [when Claude's first wife died} was doing PR work with Illinois Central and was sent down to Vincennes to see if she could aid them in any way. Alan Hart Drake - was born on 15 Aug 1929. He is the son of Claude Keaton Drake and Margaret Lillian Hart. Alan married Elizabeth L. Browning on 3 Jul 1952. Elizabeth was born on 16 Feb 1930.   Then Alan married Evelyn Dianne Kelley on 13 Apr 1963. Evelyn was born on 28 Apr 1940. Alan - occupation: Music teacher - was living in Augusta Ga, in 2004.   Dr. Alan Drake has devoted the last fifty years to the musical profession where he has served as performer, educator, conductor and administrator. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Miami, and his Master's and Ph.D. degrees from Florida State University. He taught instrumental music for thirteen years in Florida, and then held professorships at Purdue University, The University of Southern Mississippi, Ohio Northern University, and Augusta State University where he is Professor of Music Emeritus.   He has been the Musical Director of the Augusta Concert Band since 1992, and was Principal Clarinet of the Augusta Symphony under Harry Jacobs from 1982 until 1989.   Dr. Drake has performed chamber music throughout his career and is an enthusiastic supporter of it. He was a founding member of the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society and has served two terms each as board member, Vice-President, President, and Assistant Artistic Director.   He has directed six European concert tours and has been a guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator or soloist in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Columbia, Venezuela, and nineteen of the United States. Very active in professional organizations, he served as the Vice-President and Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the 3000-member National Band Association, as music panelist for the Georgia Council of the Arts, and he has held other similar posts. Children with Elizabeth L. Browning i.  Alan Bruce Drake was born on 29 Aug 1956. ii.  David Lawrence Drake was born on 29 May 1959. Children with Evelyn Dianne Kelley iii.  Kelley Denise Drake was born on 18 Feb 1964. iv.  Christina Elizabeth Drake was born on 9 Sep 1970.

Jean Lois Drake - was born on 1 Jul 1922 in Chicago, Ilinois and died on 26 Jan 2008 in Birmingham, AL . She was the daughter of Claude Keaton Drake and Margaret Lillian Hart. Jean married Herbert Carroll Vaughn on 14 Oct 1948 in Dade Co., FL. Herbert was born on 16 Sep 1923. He was the son of Hebert L Vaughn. He died on 25 Sep 2006 . Herbert - Enlisted in the Air Corps Reserves Feb 1, 1943 im Miami, FL. At the time he was a Laundry Maintenance Mechanic.   Graduated from the University of Miami in 1949.   In the 1930 Census, he is shown with a sibling Iva Lee Vaughn, age 13. (Sources: - 2) Jean - OBITUARY FOR JEAN DRAKE VAUGHN   Saturday, Jan 26, 2008, Jean Drake Vaughn of Birmingham went to be with the Lord and her loved ones who have gone before. Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years (Carroll), two sons (Allen and Stephen), and a daughter (Susan). She is survived by a brother Dr. Alan Drake (Evalyn) of Augusta, GA, a niece Christina (Ben) and grand niece (Eva) of Portland, OR, a nephew Bruce Drake (Sandy) of Saudi Arabia and a daughter-in-law Rebecca Vaughn of Homewood.   Mrs. Vaughn was born in Chicago, Ilinois on July 1, 1922 to Margaret and Claude Drake. As a teenager she moved with her family to Miami, Florida. There she attended the University of Miami where she graduated Cum Laude in 1943 with a B.A. in Spanish and Music. At the University she was also distinguished as the first female band member where she played clarinet. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance from Samford University in 1970.   During World War II, Mrs. Vaughn was commissioned as an officer (Lieutenant) in the Navy where she served in Washington D.C. in the Top Secret Communications Unit which participated in breaking the German code. She was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Miami where she met her future husband, Carroll and they were married October 14, 1948.   The Vaughn’s moved to Birmingham in 1957 where she taught high school for many years and retired from the Jefferson County system in 1982. After retirement she stayed active and worked as an Editorial Assistant for the Women’s Missionary Union. She was also a past president of the Forthian Literary Club. She was a long time member of Highlands United Methodist Church.   Funeral services will be held on ______, ______ __ at Southern Heritage (Highway 119). Visitation will be at _____ , a chapel service at ______ followed by a graveside prayer. The Reverend David Carboni, Senior Pastor of Highlands United Methodist Church will be officiating. Children: i.  Allen Carroll Vaughn was born on 26 Feb 1951 and died Jan 2002 . Allen married Rebecca "Becky" Shook on 22 Mar 1975. Rebecca was born on 31 Dec 1954 in Birmingham, AL. Rebecca - - sent an email with family facts in Oct 2005. Allen - "ALABAMA PIPES & DRUMS."   Founded in 1994, the Birmingham Society of Piping has retained as its primary focus the development of artistic excellence. The leadership since that time has been Pipe Major Jamie Brooks-Hamilton, originally from the San Diago area, and Drum Sgt. Allen Vaughn (passed away in January 2002) who at one time played with the Atlanta Pipe Band.   Our band is proud to be a part of the resurgence of interest in Celtic culture. We place a high priority on educating the public about the deep roots of this culture and its vitality and relevance here at the dawn of the 21st century. This is of special importance given the influence of Scottish and Irish settlers in this area's history.   Currently under the leadership of Pipe Major Jim MacRae who recently moved to Birmingham from Chicago and Lead Drummer Kevin Barrett, the band is in a growth mode. Plans are underway to make a trip to Scotland in the near future.   We wear the tartan of Ancient MacDougal.
