2.	Guy de Balliol - was born about 1065 and died before 1122 . He was the son of Rainold de Balliol. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Bernard de Baliol I was born about 1095 in Bywell, Northumb, England and died in 1153 . See #3. below.

Bernard de Baliol I - was born about 1095 in Bywell, Northumb, England and died in 1153 . He was the son of Guy de Balliol. Bernard married Matilda. Matilda was born about 1095. Bernard - Barnard Castle was built by Bernard de Balliol in 1125 when he succeeded to the lands first given to Guy de Balliol in 1095. The original timber castle was rebuilt in stone and expanded by Bernard and his younger son, Bernard de Balliol Ii. The large castle is built high on rocky cliffs above the River Tees, and is divided into four wards all walled in stone. The inner ward is protected by a deep ditch cut into the rock and within this ward are the remains of the most important castle buildings including the Round Tower and the Great Hall. Bernard de Baliol II - was born in 1140 and died in 1194 . He was the son of Bernard de Baliol I. Bernard married Agnes Pincheni. Agnes was born in 1249. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Lord Ingram de Baliol was born in 1175 in Tours-en-Vimeu, Picardy, France and died about 1244 . See #5. below. ii.  Eustace de Baliol was born about 1135 and died in 1210 . See #6. below.

Lord Ingram de Baliol - also known as: Ingelram - was born in 1175 in Tours-en-Vimeu, Picardy, France and died about 1244 . He was the son of Bernard de Baliol II and Agnes Pincheni. Lord Ingram married Agnes de Berkeley. Agnes was born in 1170. She is the daughter of Lord Walter de Berkeley. Lord Ingram - Lord Redcastle. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Eleanor de Baliol was born about 1206 in Red Castle, Angushire, Scotland and died before 22 Nov 1281 . Eleanor married William de Percy about 1234 in Red Castle, Augushire, Scotland. William was born about 1193 in Alnwick, Northumberlandshire, England. He was the son of Sir Henry de Percy. He died before 28 Jul 1245 . Eleanor - - The lands of Inverkeilor, or which Red Castle was built, were granted to Walter de Berkeley, the royal chamberlain of William the Lion. On Walter's death about 1194, the property passed, via his daughter, to the Balliol family - the probable builders of the first stone castle on the site. See Barbatus family for children.

6.	Eustace de Baliol - was born about 1135 and died in 1210 . He was the son of Bernard de Baliol II and Agnes Pincheni. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Hugh de Baliol was born about 1191 in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England and died in 1228 . See #7. below.

Hugh de Baliol - was born about 1191 in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England and died in 1228 . He was the son of Eustace de Baliol. Hugh married Cecily de La Fontaine about 1215 while living in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England. Cecily was born about 1195, lived in Richmond Castle, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She is the daughter of Aleaume Fontaine and Laurette Saint Walery. Hugh - In 1216 Hugh de Balliol helped King John defend the North against a revolt by Northumbrian barons who were supported by Alexander I, King of Scotland. In July Barnard was besieged by Alexander's forces. Little is known about this siege although it appears to have been unsuccessful, and it claimed the life of Alexander's brother-in-law, Eustace de Vesci, killed by a crossbow bolt fired from the castle. Hugh died in 1228, and was succeeded by his son, John de Balliol Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  John de Baliol was born about 1212 in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England and died on 12 Oct 1268/1269 in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England . See #8. below. ii.  Ada de Baliol was born about 1206 in Barhard Castle, Glanford, Durham, England and died on 29 Jul 1251 in Stokesby, Durham, England . Ada married John Fitzrobert. John was born about 1193 in Clavering, Essex, England. He was the son of Robert FitzRoger and Margaret de Chesney. He died in 1240 . See Monoculus family for children.

John de Baliol - was born about 1212 in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England and died on 12 Oct 1268/1269 in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England . He was the son of Hugh de Baliol and Cecily de La Fontaine. John married Dervorqilla de Galloway in 1233 while living in Galloway, Wigtownshire, Scotland. Dervorqilla was born about 1218, lived in Galloway, Wigtownshire, Scotland. She died on 28 Jan 1289/1290 in Kemston, Bedfordshire, England . John - John gained land and titles in Scotland through his marriage to Devorguilla of Galloway, and this allowed his son, John de Balliol II, to become a contender for the vacant Scottish throne in 1292. A council of Scottish and English lords, convened by King Edward I, chose John as the new king. He swore loyalty to Edward, but once in power rejected the authority of the English king. In 1296 Edward marched to Scotland and John surrendered his right to the Scottish throne and was imprisoned in the Tower of London. All of his English estates were confiscated, although he was later allowed to retire to his family estates in Picardy. Eleanor de Baliol - was born about 1246 in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England. She is the daughter of John de Baliol and Dervorqilla de Galloway. Eleanor married John Comyn about 1270 while living in Bernard Castle, Gainford, Durham, England. John was born about 1242, lived in England. He was the son of John Comyn. He died about 1303 . Children: i.  John Comyn was born about 1269, lived in Badenoch, Inverness-Shire, Scotland and died in 1306 . See #10. below.

John Comyn - was born about 1269, lived in Badenoch, Inverness-Shire, Scotland and died in 1306 . He was the son of John Comyn and Eleanor de Baliol. John married Joan de Valence about 1289 while living in Badenoch, Inverness-Shire, Scotland. Joan was born about 1273, lived in England. She is the daughter of Guillaume de Lusignan Valence and Joan Munchensy. Children: i.  Elizabeth Comyn was born in 1299, lived in Wyke, Cornwall, England and died on 5 Oct 1356 . Elizabeth married Richard Talbot about 1325. Richard was born about 1302, lived in Wyke, Cornwall, England. He was the son of Gilbert Talbot and Anne Boteler. He died on 23 Oct 1356 .
