Manuel Comnenus - was born about 0990. Manuel - This progenitor of the Comneni dynasty was a large landowner in Asia Minor whose home village was Comneni, which was near Hadrianople. His family grew in power and prestige, his first son and the son of his second son both becoming Emporers. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  John Comnenus was born about 1020 and died in 1067 . See #2. below. ii.  Emporer Isaac I Comnenus Emporer Isaac - Emporer from 1057 to 1059. Not an ancestor, but included in my genealogy because he was the the first emporer of the Comnenian dynasty and uncle of my ancestor, Emporer Alexius I Comnenus

2.	John Comnenus - was born about 1020 and died in 1067 . He was the son of Manuel Comnenus. John married Anita Dalassena. Anita was born about 1025. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Alexius I Comnenus was born in 1048 and died on 5 Aug 1118 . See #3. below.

Alexius I Comnenus - was born in 1048 and died on 5 Aug 1118 . He was the son of John Comnenus and Anita Dalassena. Alexius married Irene Ducena about 1078. Irene was born about 1065. She is the daughter of Andronicus Dukas and Maria of Bulgaria. Alexius - was the Byzantine Emporer from 1081 to 1118. The quarter century just preceeding his reign, from 1056 to 1081, is referred to by Byzantine historians as "the time of troubles". The last emporer of the Macedonian Dynasty, Constantine IX (d.1055)(RIN 2353), was succeeded for about a year by his sister-in-law, then by a series of weak and unrelated emporers, one of whom (1057-59) was Alexius' uncle, Isaac I (RIN 3394*). This weakening of the Empire from within bore the seeds of the crusader movement in Western Europe. Foreign pressures on all frontiers greatly reduced the area conrolled by the Empire. Children: (Quick Family Chart) i.  Theodora Cominena was born about 1100. Theodora married Constatnine Angelus. Constatnine was born about 1100. See Angelus family for children.
