John Bourne - was born in 1708 in Smutty Nose Is, Isle of Shoals and died on 17 Jul 1788 in Wells, Maine . John married Mary Cousins on 8 Nov 1727 in Wells, Maine. Mary was born about 1707. She was the daughter of John Cousins and Abigail Cloyes. She died on 12 Aug 1776 in Wells, Maine .   Then John married Mary Oct 1777. She died on 29 May 1794 in Portsmouth Nh . Mary - Mary was used to luxuries which John BOURNE could not provide. After his assets were depleted, she returned to Portsmouth. John - removed to Kittery Maine at the end of the Queen Anne's War (1702-13). In shipbuilding for 50 years, he built many ships on the Kennebunk, Mousam and Webhannat Rivers. His first ship, 80 tons, was the first build on the Kennebunk. At the launching day a heifer was roasted for the many spectators from miles around.   The industry which was to make Kennebunk famous was also launched that day. John had an iron will, once made up, but he was still mild and gentle and loved children. In old age he climbed a tree for apples. Children with Mary Cousins (Quick Family Chart) i.  Mary Bourne was born about 1729. ii.  John Bourne Jr. was born about 1730. iii.  Benjamin Bourne Benjamin - was in shipbuilding with his father. Benjamin's son John, born in 1765, married 1) Abigail Hubbard, 2) Sally KIMBALL (dau. of James KIMBALL) and 3) Mrs. Eliza (Wildes).   John's son Edward Emerson BOURNE - born 1798 wrote the History of Wells and Kennebunk Maine. iv.  Joanna Bourne v.  Samuel Bourne was born about 1741 in Wells, Maine. vi.  Joseph Bourne vii.  Abraham Bourne was born about 1745. viii.  Abigail Bourne was born about 1747. ix.  Isaac Bourne was born about 1753 in Wells, York Co., Maine and died on 2 Mar 1829 in Wells, York Co., Maine . Isaac Bourne - was born about 1753 in Wells, York Co., Maine and died on 2 Mar 1829 in Wells, York Co., Maine . He was the son of John Bourne and Mary Cousins. Isaac married Susanna Patten. Susanna was born about 1754 in Wells, York Co., Maine. She was the daughter of William Patten and Priscilla Harmon. She died on 12 Aug 1825 in Wells, York Co., Maine . Mary married William Goodale on 31 Aug 1800 in Wells, York Co., Maine. ii.  Deborah Bourne was born in 1782 in Wells, Maine and died on 15 Oct 1859 in Woburn, Mass. . Deborah married Maj. Wilbraham Kimball on 20 Oct 1804 in Wells, Maine. Maj. Wilbraham was born on 18 Sep 1778 in Wells, Maine. He was the son of Israel Kimball and Eleanor Dennett. He died on 28 Oct 1852 in Woburn, Mass. . Deborah - Grandmother Kimball   Grandmother Kimball, who died when I was two years old, in contrast to grandfather, was a very vivacious women. She dearly loved to "go places" and as mother has often said, she was always ready to put on her bonnet and start on a trip, long or short!   She outlived grandfather by seven years. She too died in Woburn in 1859.   Notes in the diaries of Uncle Israel, from 1855 to 1859 record frequent trips that she made between Woburn, Portsmouth and Wells. In Oct 1855 when seventy three years old she made the trip alone from Woburn to Ft. Wayne Ind. to see her three sons who were living there (Wilbury, Benj. and Sam'l)   Ten fine sone all reaching manhood, all reflected honor on their parents who must have been enerjetic and resourceful as wall as devout christian character.   Judge I.G.K. says in his biography that each boy as he grew up in the old house was taught to help mother in cooking and other work of the house in the absence of daughters to render such asistance.   They were worthy sons of worthy parents.   (James Melvin Kimball 1934) See Kimball family for children. iii.  Susanna Bourne was born on 6 May 1784 in Wells, York Co., Maine and died on 20 Apr 1838 in Wells, York Co., Maine . Susanna married Samuel Black Littlefield on 26 Nov 1807. Samuel was born on 9 Dec 1771 in Wells, York Co., Maine. He was the son of Benjamin Littlefield and Dorcas Black. He died on 27 Dec 1858 in Wells, York Co., Maine . See Littlefield family for children. iv.  Abigail Bourne was born on 15 Mar 1791 in Wells, York Co., Maine.
